Lyle Sanders Assistant to Funeral Directors
Born in Lake City, PA, and a lifelong resident of the Girard community, Lyle lives within 1200 feet of the family home where he grew up. Upon graduating from Girard High School, Lyle set out on a 25 year career as a meatcutter. Only one year into it he married his wife Sandy in 1976. Lyle and Sandy had four daughters, Jennifer, Julie, Stacey and Heather, and became very involved in their girls' activities whether it be through coaching, giving rides or just cheering them on. While working as a meatcutter, Lyle decided on a career change and in 1995 began his quest to achieve a certification in education. In 2003 he began teaching at Perseus House in Erie, PA. Earlier that same year the Sanders family suffered a major tragedy when their two youngest daughters Stacey and Heather were killed in an automobile accident while on their way to get a pizza for dinner. It was this life changing event that inspired Lyle to go into funeral service and help families through the very difficult times of losing loved ones. As a means of helping kids, Lyle and Sandy have created the Stacey and Heather Sanders Memorial Scholarship which awards a $1,000 scholarship each year to a graduating senior at Girard High School. To fund the scholarship the family, along with granddaughters Madisen, Samantha and Sophia, hold the annual Stacy and Heather Sanders Memorial Golf Tournament with proceeds used to purchase items for the local school that benefit all students.
