James Mclaren

August 30, 1961 — August 12, 2022

James G. McLaren, age 60 of Erie, PA passed away on Friday, August 12th, 2022 at St. Vincent’s Hospital after a brief illness.

Jim was born in Erie on August 30, 1961, the beloved son of Elizabeth McLaren and the late Harold McLaren.  He was a treasured brother of Robert McLaren , Nancy McLaren, Barbara McLaren Bever and Thomas McLaren.  He also leaves to honor his memory their spouses who really supported Jimmy, especially these last few months.  He especially loved, and was loved by, his extended family of his aunts and uncles, cousins, a large number of nieces and nephews and extended family.  His happiest times were on the family beach vacations with this large clan.  Jimmy’s other interests were skiing and playing golf with members of his family. His other “homes” were the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, Springhill (where he was a frequent visitor to his mom) and his most recent residence at the Regency South Shore. All provided a caring and accepting place for Jimmy.

The family is grateful to the wonderful staff at AHN/ST Vincent’s Cancer Center and especially to Dr. Zhou, Dr. Karns, Dr. Recio and Dr. Rys at St. Vincent’s for all the care and help they have given Jimmy and his family these last six months.

The family would like to invite you to a celebration of Jimmy’s life to be held on Wednesday, August 17th at 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 250 West Seventh Street, Erie which will be livestreamed on the funeral home’s facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/BurtonQuinnScott/. There will be a reception in the church parlor after the service which all are invited to.  Interment will be private.

Arrangements are under the care of Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Downtown. Condolences can be sent at www.BurtonQuinnScott.com.  If one wants to make a contribution in Jimmy’s name, the family suggests the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, flagged for their youth work or the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania.
