Jean Reed

Jean D. Reed, age 87, passed away at ForestView Healthcare Center on Wednesday October 10, 2018.

She was born in Warren, PA on February 28, 1931, the daughter of the late Arvid and Hannah C. Lindquist Danielson.

Jean graduated from Warren Area High School class of 1948 and also earned her Religious Education Associate degree from Bethel College, St Paul, MN in 1952.

In obtaining her degrees, Jean had a vital role in assisting her husband in starting churches in State College, PA and Lakewood, NY.  Throughout her life, she enjoyed attending and being a key contributor to many Bible study groups.

Jean loved being a part of the churches she served along with her husband, and was an active prayer warrior throughout her life. Above all, she loved her family to the fullest and after her beloved husband’s passing, she continued to be very involved in her grandchildren’s lives. Jean became the ultimate soccer grandmother and also developed a great love for cross country races as she cheered for her grandsons in these sports.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Richard D. Reed in January 2000, three brothers, Carl, Melvin and Herbert Danielson; two sisters, Virginia D. Asp and Ruth D. Cable. Jean’s grandson Jeremiah Paul Marks also preceded her in death.

She is survived by three daughters, Joy R. and her husband Alan McGaughran, of Blairsville (Derry Township), PA; Deborah R. and her husband Tom Marks, Irvine, CA; Julie R. and her husband Ron Korfmacher, of Upland, IN. She is further survived by nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26^th St. (at Powell Ave.) Erie, PA 16506 on Monday October 15th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Further visitation will be on Tuesday October 16^th from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Burton Westlake All Faiths Chapel with Reverend Al Detter officiating.

Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
