John Mcgraw

John J. McGraw, age 82, of Erie, passed away surrounded by his family, on Friday, July 21, 2017 at UPMC Hamot Hospital.

He was born in Erie, PA on October 13, 1934, son of the late Frederick B. and Gertrude Miller McGraw.

John graduated from Cathedral Preparatory School and went on to earn a degree in business from Gannon University.  He worked as a sales manager for C. A. Curtze and Specialty Steak Company for 50 years and was affectionately known as “Meat McGraw.”

John was a member of Saint Patrick’s Church, the Lawrence Park Golf Club, the Erie Yacht Club and the Maennerchor Club. He was a past member of the Kahkwa Club, where he served on the Board of Directors.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Thomas McGraw.

John is survived by his loving wife, Katie Barrett McGraw, his sister in law, Patti McGraw and her children, Tom McGraw, Laurie Mattis and Linda Lent.  Also surviving are his brothers and sisters in law, Steve Barrett and his wife Sharon, Molly Edkin, Michael Barrett and his wife Paula and Breffin Barrett and his wife Gladys.  He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
