Joseph Brooks

Joseph B. Brooks, age 80, of Fairview, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2017 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born in Hazen, Pa on November 13, 1937, the son of the late Walter R. and Anna Louise Bennett Brooks.

Joe served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1956-1958.

He was a trimmer at the Hammermill Paper Company for 40 years before retiring in 1999.

Joe enjoyed traveling, reading and working in his yard.  For many years, he was always helping his neighbors by cleaning up their leaves and snow blowing in winter.  Joe was a loving, father, grandpa and great grandpa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Ann Brooks; sisters, Alberta, Lois, Fern, Mary Eleanor and Margaret; and brothers, Jack, Albert, David, Bill and Bob.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joanne Tabb Brooks; a son, Greg; brother, Walter; and brother in law, Bud Tabb; grandchildren: Greg, Jr. (Yasmin), Joshua (Jess), Kaleena, Justin (Neico) and Robert; great grandchildren: Elijah, Dalea, Daijion, Caleb, Braydin, Josiah, Aniah, Laniah, Zariyah, Adyn, Noah and Jaydin.  He is further survived by nephew, Kevin (Jill) and many nieces and nephews, as well as good friends Pat and Rob.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard on Friday from 3-7 pm and are invited to a service there on Saturday at Noon with Pastor Jim Groves officiating.

Burial will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
