La'Myhia Jones

La’Myhia Lovee Jones, an 8-year-old elementary student of Erie, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 11, 2019 with her other 3 siblings. Daughter of Shevona Overton and Luther Jones, Sr.

La’Myhia was born June 8, 2011. She was such a loving child to her whole family.  She loved to be with her grandmother, Shebby Overton. The two of them were inseparable. She loved getting her hair done and wearing Jojo Bows. La’Myhia was given the nickname “nanny’s baby.”

La’Myhia attended McKinley Elementary School. She was entering the third grade. She was a proud member of the Girl Scouts, Troop #36394.  Hanging out with her troop and selling Girl Scout cookies were exciting times for her. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and participated in various youth activities and plays.

She is survived by her mother, Shevona Overton (Yoniel Rivera) and father, Luther Jones, Sr.(Shamelia), sister, Ramona Jones, brothers, Tyrese, Damien, Jamarie, and Amanee Jones, and a stepbrother, ZyShawn DeBoe, her grandmothers, Shebby Overton and Valarie Lockett Slupski (Shawn), great-grandmother, Elsie Overton, her aunt, Shequel Overton, uncle, Joshua Lockett, cousins, Na’Zhya, Shemai, and Shemad Green, Godmother, Tiajah Jones, and many other cousins.

La’Myhia is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, James Dixon, paternal grandparents, Richard and Annie Lockett, great-grand parents, Ernestine and David Jones, and Genevieve Charity. 

Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for calling hours Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 noon at the Bayfront Convention Center, 1 Sassafras Pier Erie, PA 16507, with (Pastor) Rev. LaMont A. Higginbottom, Sr. eulogizing and Rev. Anthony G. Harris as the officiant.  Burial will follow at Erie Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the care of the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 W. 10^th Street, Erie, PA.
