Patricia Silverthorn

Patricia Silverthorn passed away on April 13, 2018 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Florida.  She is survived by her husband, Richard C. Silverthorn of Lakeland, Florida. She is also survived by daughter Karin Bernice Silverthorn of North Carolina; sister Martina Wickizer of Indiana; sister Rita Ann May in Texas, brothers Jim May and Mike May of Arizona; brother Ed May (pre-deceased) of Florida;  brother-in-law and sister-in-law James and Malynna Silverthorn of Burke, VA; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews throughout the United States.

In 2006, Patty’s mother-in-law Doris Silverthorn (pre-deceased) met and married Steven Riley (pre-deceased) of Erie after the passing of John Silverthorn in 2002.  Doris and Steve Riley, the Silverthorn and Riley families enjoyed their extended family members including brother-in-law Michael Riley of Falls Church, VA; sister-in-law Kathleen Milford (Miriam Cartner) of North Kingsville, OH; sister-in-law Margaret Jean Bonner (Timothy) of Grove City, PA; and brother-in-law Steven (“Tim”) Riley, Jr. (Patty) of Erie along with their families.

Patty was born March 12, 1944 in Connersville, Indiana to the late Joseph and Rose Marie May.   She married Richard Silverthorn on March 12, 1977 with whom she shared 41 years.  The Silverthorns have been Lakeland residents since 2003 and long-standing members of Grasslands Golf & Country Club.  An avid and talented golfer, Patty was a 4-time Women’s Golf Champion at Grasslands Golf & Country Club and played in several state-wide amateur leagues. She and Richard also enjoyed playing golf throughout the United States, Europe, and Australia.  She as a retired MAI of the Appraisal Institute and Florida State-Certified Appraiser and retired as a Right-of-Way Administrator in the Appraisal Department from Florida Department of Transportation in Bartow, Florida.

Visitation will be at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home at 3801 W 26th St in Erie, PA on Tuesday, April 24 from 10:30 am - 11:00am with burial immediately following at the Fairview, PA Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the ASPCA at aspca.org.
