Sylvester Boose, Sr.

Sylvester Boose, Sr., age 91, of Erie, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020, in Erie.

He was born in Bolton, Mississippi, on April 5, 1929 a son of the late Percy and Emma William Boose.

He worked as a welder for Joseph Bear, Co. He loved working on cars, doing mechanical work and fishing.

He worked as a farm hand for Mound Plantation in Rolling Fork, MS.

Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alex Jackson; a daughter, Ernestine Boose-Jackson; one brother, Willie Boose; and three sisters, Essie Mae King, Betty Tubwell, and Willie Mae Boose.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Nail Boose; nine daughters, Emma Wimbely of Rockford, IL, Joann Njoku of Wimauma, FL, Mary Louise Shaw of Lansing, MI, Claudia Bell of Lexington, KY, Rose Marie Boose of Rockford, IL, Sheila Boose of Venus, TX, and Romona Boose, Veronica Faye Boose and Bakeba Boose, all of Rockford, IL; five sons, Sylvester Boose, Jr., Peter David Boose, Johnny J. Boose, Joe Michael Boose, all of Erie, and Timothy Boose of Marietta, GA; 58 grandchildren; 100 plus great-grandchildren; great-great- grandchildren; four sisters, Christine King, Fleeda Farrah, Rosetta Marks and Jaunita Arrington; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, Inc., Downtown, 602 W. 10th St.

Funeral service and internment will be conducted on Saturday, July 25, 2020 from Sunset Memorial Gardens & Mortuary, Machesney Park, Illinois
