Willie "Pee Wee" Barnes

Willie “Pee Wee” Barnes, 68, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 21, 2023, with his wife, Jean, by his side, after a brief battle with prostate cancer. He was born in Collins, Mississippi on August 15, 1954, to his parents, Jeffrey Barnes and D.L.O. Jones (Graves Barnes), and three months later they moved to Erie, PA. He attended East High School for three years but graduated from Academy High School in 1972. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked at Mark’s Toys and Weil-McLain before settling in at Parker Hannifin (formerly Snap-Tite and Autoclave) for 32 years, retiring in 2020.

His family was the joy of his life. He loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and winning at the casino. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and was a man of faith. He was a funny, caring, and loving soul and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Allister “Man” Barnes, Gail Barnes, and Thomas Barnes; his aunt, Bette Moffett and uncles, John “Po” Barnes and John “Flintstone” Wesley. He is survived by his wife, Jean Barnes (Thomas); his children, Nikki Barnes, Shalanda Johnson, NC, and Dorian “Buck” Barnes; his grandchildren, Sharvee, Marchawn, Jr., Jermaine, Jr., William, Laquann, Jamari, Nikkilus, Cameron, and Sanaya; his great-grandchildren, Marcelo, Marsaiah, Mario, NaJour, and two on the way; his siblings, Mary New (Barnes), Steve Barnes, Patricia Lomax (Jones), and Patrick Barnes; his step-siblings, Alice Faye Polk-Arrington, Jennifer Barnes, and Quincy Barnes; and his maternal aunts, Myrtle Barnes (Graves), Emma Gray (Graves), and Lula Thomas. Also, his great friends, Rev. Willie Jordan and David Dean, and many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation hours will be Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service following immediately at noon at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services, Inc., Downtown, 602 W. 10th St., Erie, PA. Rev. Willie Jordan of Community Missionary Baptist Church will be eulogizing. Interment will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, 2601 Norcross Rd., Erie, PA.
